When exactly is Canada Day?
Canada Day, on July 1, marks the 1867 confederation of the provinces of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick into a single dominion. It was called Dominion Day until 1982.
It is a national statutory holiday, celebrated with fireworks, parades, outdoor concerts and a great deal of red and white. When July 1 falls on a Sunday, the day off moves to the Monday.
