When exactly is Cyber Monday?
Cyber Monday is the Monday after American Thanksgiving, invented in 2005 by a retail trade group that noticed online sales spiking when people got back to their office computers. Home broadband was still rare; the office was where the fast connection lived.
That origin is now a historical curiosity — the majority of Cyber Monday spending happens on phones — but the date stuck, and it has spread well beyond the United States. In practice the discounts now run from Black Friday straight through to the following Monday, so the two days function as one long weekend of sales.
