When exactly is Hurricane Season?
The Atlantic hurricane season opens on June 1 and closes on November 30 โ dates set by NOAA to cover about 97% of all tropical activity in the basin. The peak is far later than the start: mid-August to late October, with the statistical maximum around September 10.
The Eastern Pacific season starts two weeks earlier, on May 15. Storms do form outside the window โ a named system in May is unusual but not rare โ which is why the dates are a planning tool rather than a fence.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 every year.
When is the peak of hurricane season?
Around September 10. Activity climbs slowly through June and July, rises sharply in mid-August and stays high until late October, so the middle third of the season carries most of the named storms even though the window is six months long.
