πŸ“ŠHow many days until month-end close?

βœ“ Tested & verified Updated: How we calculate this

Finance, payroll and reporting deadlines almost never fall on the last day of the month. They fall on the last working day, which moves every month.

What is coming up

Every date we track that falls inside your window β€” so a birthday, a bank holiday or a deadline never arrives as a surprise.

Free to use β€” Pro is for keeping it

This tool, like every other one here, is free and needs no account. A free account keeps three setups and three email alerts. Pro takes the ads off every site we run and lifts that to 200 setups and 50 alerts, adds a public page for any result and lets you embed the tool without our badge.

How this works

The last working day is the final Monday–Friday of the month. In a month ending on a Sunday, that is two days earlier than the last date on the calendar; in a month ending on a Friday, it is the same day. The tool works it out for the next twelve months at once.

Where the last working day falls

It varies by up to two days depending on how the month ends.

Public holidays are not included: they differ by country and often by region.

Frequently asked questions

Is the last working day always a Friday?

No. It is whichever of Monday to Friday comes last in the month β€” often a Wednesday or Thursday.

Can I use it for the first working day instead?

Set the cycle to monthly and pick the 1st as your reference date, with weekend shifting on.

How we calculate this

The month end is taken as day 0 of the following month, which the Date object resolves to the true last day including leap years. From there it steps backwards until it lands on a weekday.
